Opening Thoughts & Predictions

All that remains of here, is a waiting game of interviews, case studies, results, and etc.
This may serve as the final entry, but surely, I shall go on.

Update @ 14/8/2026: So I did pass. Even gotten my 'goal' of 3.5 CGPA.

Roti Telur

Roti Telur [Jasir Bistro]

RM 3.00
Breakfast 1

I was thinking of Chinese food as it's more filling, but per Gemini Mamak is fine as it's en route instead of dedicated detour.

  • Roti telur: is fine.
  • Sambal: different vs Cyber where it's a better taste here.
  • Curry: decent
  • Dhal: watery enough, and no green thing so big plus

Why did I sign up for this.

Bihun Goreng?

Bihun Goreng? [Valiram]

Free
Breakfast 2

Oh so they did provide food.

  • Noodles, cabbage, carrot
  • Delite chrysanthemum drink (320ml)

It's ok.

As time passes, first group task is done, en route to 2nd group task, and somehow lunch is nowhere to be found, nor offered.

Chicken & Mushroom Spaghetti

Chicken & Mushroom Spaghetti [Valiram]

Free
Lunch

Finally food is here. At long last which is even later than my typical at home lunches.

  • Chicken, Mushroom slices, Carrots, Spaghetti
  • Presumed orange juice (likely from those tank drink dispensers)
  • Taste wise it seems good
  • I was told it's from Picante, one of APUs in house stores
  • In MMU it's usually done by MDA or some external one

Yes I am easily bribed by free food, but I'd really like to eat 2 packets as I'm a hungry fug.

I wonder when will dinner be served, 8? Or none at all?

Chicken Chop

Chicken Chop [Valiram]

Free
Dinner

Task 3 really burnt all of us, with an offer too good that it got rejected somehow.

Ah well, dinner at 8, while I ngaw my insides out, brain power gone (not like I had any, business or law wise).

  • Chicken chop: has a hint of paprik or spices of some sort.
  • Lettuce: lettuce, finely chopped up.
  • Black pepper: decent, but not enough to finish up the fries
  • Fries: crinkle cut. Cold like the dish.

Met new people be it from semi-volunteering in ice breaking, and via group activity. Was it fun? Could've been better.

But life do be unexpected, so just think of doing the best one can at that moment.

I would've ate 2 if it wasn't for getting called back into the hall. Back to burning Claude I guess, which is what I do best.

Nasi Goreng Biasa Mamak

Nasi Goreng Biasa Mamak [Ammer Ehsan Puchong]

RM 5.50? Free
Lunch

Due to wifi being terminated early, had to come to a relatives place while fetching cousin for lunch (more like an offer).

His food + drink came way before mine, while he & me kinda reminded the staff from time to time regarding my food.

  • It's a whole 29 minutes wait. At least 29 minutes.
  • The rice is wet ish
  • Onions, Cabbage, Vege, Egg
  • 0 meat, reminds me of a certain restaurant.

I think I should've went to take the nasi kandar instead of ordering "cooked when ordered".

That'd save me tons of unnecessary brain power.

Turns out, it was physical since the address was stated there. But they were kind enough to let me online still.

Asked for QR for repayment purposes, got told to belanja next time. Guess I will, when the time comes?

1 Pc Rice Plate

1 Pc Rice Plate [KFC Giant Kinrara]

RM 9.99
Lunch

It seems to be cloudy, which means there's a chance for rain to come. Better not take the risk & eat inside mall.

Choices are hard to pick, as Subway is fine (11.90 for sub of the day with drinks?), but reviews say it's bad.

Food court is a bit questionable to me, so I went to KFC as a gamble, tapped their menu, seems fine, paid.

  • 11:19 ordered, 11:23 arrived, peak service speed, good for fast food.
  • 1 pc Hot & Spicy Chicken, 1 Colonel Rice, 1 Coleslaw (4oz), 1 Coke Zero (M)
  • Received thigh, quite good, quite fresh & hot
  • Rice despite looking compact & cake inside, is better than Dapos.

Culture fit seems more of a regular chit chat, and now to hope for the best within these few days.

Drink (Iced lemon tea? in Kenny Hills) on Sales director, and some free samples in Seibu, hoping to last till dinner.

So... What Now?

So... What Now?

Afterthoughts, Aug 29:

And so, the waiting game began.

The Valiram experience had already given me a pretty good taste of what the working world could look like, but apparently that wasn't enough suffering for one lifetime. Had some free food, met some nice people, and somehow walked away with a Bath & Body Works perfume from Valiram Day.

So at least I got something out of it.

Then came the interviews.
More interviews.
Technical interviews.
Case studies.
Live coding.
Waiting (while applying for more).
Ghosted.
More waiting (while applying for more, and lowering standards).
Rejected.

Some went well.
Some went... well, they happened.

Admittedly, the FB post I made was doing most of the hard carry, but even then, most of these were already stuffed into June and July, while I was still juggling the final stretch of university and all the general academic shit that came with it.

My usual bois grouping had also been forcibly dismantled, so I had to roll for new groupmates.
They weren't necessarily bad, but going from "here's your task, I'll do mine" to actually having to coordinate everyone was certainly an adjustment.

And with different people came a different kind of uncertainty.

Would they actually do their part?
Would I have to babysit them?
Would their performance end up dragging my results down?

My usual group was basically a guaranteed 3.50+ CGPA lobby.
Now I had to put my faith in a completely different set of people, while having considerably less control over how they performed.
And that was... concerning.

Then, around mid-July, I finally reached the point where there was nothing left I could do about it.
I could only wait for the results.

And then the Sakiko plush finally arrived (the one featured as cover icon of the month).

5 August.

The plush I mentioned back in June.
The one that I could've brought to my FYP presentation like the other kids.
The one that arrived after the FYP presentation.

Of course.

Some people got to bring their plushies to their FYP presentations, such is the life of Gen Z.
Mine decided to wait until the entire thing was already over.

Excellent timing.
Absolutely immaculate, cinema, even.

At least Sakiko made it home.

And then the confirmation came.

I passed.

Not only did I pass, I somehow managed to hit the goal I had been chasing for years.

3.50 CGPA.

A number that had spent half my university life sitting just out of reach.

3.15.
3.23.
3.35 (I've hit my first ever 4 flat here).
3.49 (just a bit more).
3.49 (ok maybe if i worked a bit harder).
3.48 (ouch).

And then somehow, finally:

3.50.

During my internship applications, I had gotten so used to selecting "3.00 - 3.49" whenever an application asked for my CGPA that seeing "3.50+" sitting there felt almost unreal.
Not a 4.00.
Not first class (in MMU it's 3.67).
But I didn't care.

I fucking made it.

University was officially done.

Well.
Almost.

There was still the job problem.

The interviews continued.
The case studies continued.
The applications continued.

Then came the physical interview.
A proper, face-to-face interview.
Apparently this was the part where they wanted to determine whether I was actually a human being they could tolerate working with.
Cultural fit, they called it.
Surely nothing could go wrong.
They even offered me a drink on the house.
And then...

I waited.
And waited.

And somehow there were still more interviews.
At this point I had accepted that the job hunt was simply my new trimester.
Except this trimester didn't have a timetable, as it was up to the interviewers, whether they read my resume, and whether they thought I was worth interviewing over the hundreds of other potential candidates.

Some have 4.00 CGPAs.
Okay. Fair enough. They worked harder than I did.

Some have 4.00 CGPAs and several hackathon wins.
Meanwhile I was spending half my weekends travelling home because apparently university has a hidden โ€œmaintain your living situationโ€ side quest.

Some have all that, plus multiple internships at big MNCs. The big bois everyone knows.
Citi ("Ah, the bank").
L'Orรฉal ("Ah, the cosmetics company").
PwC ("Ah, the accounting company").

...Um.
Why are you applying here? I thought this was supposed to be the part where I had a chance.

And then there are the ones who have all of that, plus founded companies (& gotten funding), led teams, won awards, and apparently decided that graduating wasn't enough of a side quest.
At that point, I give up. I'm not even competing anymore.
I'm just observing.
Let me learn from you.

Mom help me I'm scared.
Can I restart university and stay there forever?
I think this guy is secretly three people under one IC.

Still, I kept going.

Then one day, the message came.
"Congratulations, you're hired, here's the offer letter."

...
Oh.
"Sign here, please. We will onboard you on 2nd September."

cue Dr. Facilier getting dragged away

And just like that...

I'm employed. Me. Employed.
The guy who practically lived in Discord since 2017.
Farming pp since 2018.
Closersmaxxing since 2019.
The guy who only started properly learning how to code after picking up the basics through AHK in 2021, just to Closersmaxx more effectively.
The guy who chose a Computer Science degree because it allegedly pays well + gets him access to a gaming laptop.
The Lord Junn, employed?
What happened?

Somehow, all of that led here.

I have a job.

A proper, full-time, permanent job.
Signed.
Done.

No more "hopefully."
No more "maybe."
No more wondering where I'll end up after graduation.
I know.

The degree is done.
The CGPA is done.
The FYP is done.
The internship is done.
The job hunt is done.

So, I suppose this is where Food-MMU ends.

Not because I've stopped eating.
Not because the adventures are over.
But because the chapter this site was born from has finally closed.

Four years ago, this was just a place to keep track of food, and my thoughts on them.
Now it's a record of four years of my life. The highs, the lows, the rants, the updates, the memories.

And honestly?

That's pretty fucking cool.

I don't think I ever expected a food log to become this.
A timeline of where I was, what I was doing, what I was worried about, and who I was at the time.

Some months were good.
Some were shit.
Some were expensive.
Some were lonely.
Some were chaotic.
Some somehow managed to be all of the above.

But they're all here.

49 months later, I can actually look back and see the entire thing.

From the first RM183.30 in August 2022...
to the final RM25.83 in August 2026.

From worrying about food expenses...
to worrying about assignments.
Then internships.
Then FYP.
Then graduation.
Then jobs.

And now?

I'm employed.

What the fuck.

So...
It's all over, huh?

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the other side.
