Opening Thoughts & Predictions

It is time to face being an adult, after 4 years of university.

3Γ— the pay compared to my internship. Am I 3Γ— better now? Am I prepared?

In the working world, no one would care about emotions. All they care about is output.

The experience that I have from Presoft, hopefully, will be useful to me. My prompting skills (read: Antigravity) should be able to supplement my other shortcomings.

With adult money also comes adult bills. I should probably ask around and figure out what I'm supposed to pay sooner or later, before the tax people knock on my door, or some random expense I didn't know existed suddenly comes into existence.

Somehow, after spending four years trying to figure out how to survive university, I'm now expected to figure out how to survive adulthood. Surely nothing could go wrong.

So ready or not, here it comes.

Here I come.

Roti Telur + Teh Tarik

Roti Telur + Teh Tarik [Jasir Bistro]

RM 4.80
Breakfast

Day 1 at work, and I somehow have to join meetings with clients? I guess there's a first for everything.

Per Gemini I was told to eat slightly more "t20" per my understanding, since I do have a potential $$ stream now, so might as well get myself some liquid instead of relying on just an 800ml bottle.
Kahwin was told to be too "fat", so compromised with this, I guess.

  • Roti Telur: same as 1 Aug, 3.00
  • Teh Tarik: It do be sweet by default, 1.80

LRT is packed, I mean PACKED. Way more different compared to the time I'm at Presoft LRT commuting, granted it is TO the city centre, and not FROM. But still, whole ahh battle royale just for seats, & crowd only subsided by the time I reached Masjid Jamek.
Hopefully if I do choose the LRT route to go office, it'd be more peaceful, or at least on par with Presoft times. (as its OUT of city centre -> 1st station)

Oolong Rose Tea

Oolong Rose Tea [Menara Centara]

Unknown Free
Drink

This is written 10/9/2026 so it may be a little incorrect. I also forgotten the exact stall name + price.
While waiting at the lobby the CEO approached me and offered to get a drink with me. I was thinking of something hot, but had idea what to get, so I settled with whatever this is.
It is hot, like quite hot. Good thing its takeaway-able, otherwise may need to get some ice cubes for it.

Yes I guess the current state of CS juniors are a little cooked (AI + general competition), and no I'm pretty sure all my bois have found their own pathways, especially the 2 that got straight absorbed from intern into a perma. Fun.
Why not return to Presoft? ..."I would like to try new environments".

Nasi Kandar

Nasi Kandar [Al Falah Noori @ Shah Alam]

Unknown Free?
Lunch

There's water served at meeting #1, guess I won't need to dip into my bottle.
Lunch with CTO + GTMD (in his ride), got quoted why I took little, when its my go to order most of the time.

  • Vege, Chicken (Thigh), Goat curry, Rice (unsure of portion)

Asked for how much I should pay back, got paraphrased that he forgotten. Thanks..?

Minced Meat Zhar Yoke Mee

Minced Meat Zhar Yoke Mee [Restoran JC Plus]

RM 10.00
Lunch

So somehow work was essentially remote, hence why I have like 0 meals to log, until today when parents decided to go out, just the 2 of them. I got told to settle my own lunch.

A debate between 3 restaurants took up some planning time at 12:

  • Jasir Bistro (local mamak, nearest + free parking, "boring but works")
  • Anjung Mahsuri (new food place, never tried before, but considered semi unknown territory)
  • Shops further south (known area, usually good, paid + slightly hard to find parking)

Was debating on Jasir vs down south, wheel pointed to Anjung, then Jasir. I decided to gamble, and found parking a lil further from the restaurant. Paid 53 cents to be a law abiding citizen, and to prevent losing 1000 of it instead.
Chose this stall as it seemed the safest to me + had people queueing up waiting for it, means it should be decent.

  • 9 cuts of a strip of fried pork, not too juicy but servicable for local food
  • Minced meat, they're tasteful I'd say
  • Some vege
  • Soup, is fine
  • Of course, it can't compare to peak. But peak has been missing for quite some time.

Would I come again? I guess? But maybe I'd try something else for a change. Speaking of which I should've just gepuk-ed.
I would've been more full (last I had gepuk was 2026-06-22) despite it costs like 20% more. It isn't a food my family would eat.

Better than Presoft.

Better than Presoft.

September was the month where I finally stopped preparing to enter the working world, and actually entered it.

Day 1 started rather immediately. No gentle introduction, no β€œtake some time to settle in” or welcoming briefing β€” even Presoft had one, albeit brief. Somehow, I was already sitting in client meetings.

Okay. So this is work.

Thankfully, the reality was considerably less terrifying than what I had built up in my head based on that first day. It isn't like a truck isekai'd me into another world, Presoft-style.

For the most part, work has been remote. Very remote, actually (truthful to the offer letter). Enough that September somehow ended with only two proper food entries because there simply wasn't much reason to leave the house.

Every now and then, however, came the summons.

Meet the clients (with the higher ups, never alone).
Attend a meeting (usually online if internal).
Present something to the clients.
Be physically present for something.

And honestly? I don't mind it.

The biggest surprise, however, is how different this feels compared to Presoft.

Presoft taught me a lot, I wouldn't downplay that. But if anything, it also taught me what I didn't want from working life.
The commute, the traffic, the general chaos, and the feeling that I was constantly fighting the environment (read: being micromanaged) made me dread the idea of entering the workforce properly. All of that made me wonder whether this was simply what adulthood was going to be.
20 years on the same seat, with the higher-ups circling above me like hawks, overseeing my every move.

Apparently not.

This time around, the work environment feels different.

I'm trusted to work remotely. I'm actually getting exposed to clients. I've had lunch with people I would've never expected to be casually having lunch with a month ago. I even got approached by the CEO (well, my boss) for a drink while waiting at the lobby.
Though Presoft did offer a Chagee, but that's after successfully navigating a spam task for submitting grants.

I'm still learning. A lot. There's still plenty I don't know.

I'm still figuring out the workflow, the expectations, the people, the systems, and exactly how much I'm supposed to know (or research) before asking questions.

But at least I'm not spending two hours a day fighting traffic just to discover that half the day could've been done from home.

Maybe that's what adulthood is supposed to be.
Maybe I just got lucky with the first month (or the first job).

That's probably the biggest surprise.

The money is better.
The work is different.
The environment is better suited to me (at least, as a transistional phase).
And somehow, I'm already being trusted with things I didn't expect to touch this early.

I even managed to touch technologies I probably wouldn't have expected an average software developer to deal with β€” including an RFID thingy. I could be wrong about that, but I definitely never touched anything like it during my time at Presoft. The closest I've been to touching non code was seeing buddy intern (declining) router setup, or dealing with API mess involving Backblaze, Whatsapp, Autocount, Billplz, and others.

Of course, it's only been one month.

Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Maybe the difficult parts haven't spawned yet. Maybe October will decide that September was merely the tutorial.

But for now?

Better than Presoft.

And honestly, I'll take that. Let's see what October does to that statement.
